Software engineer, singer, guitar player, kitty wrangler
Professional Work
I'm Steve, a software engineer and technical account manager based in Houston, Texas. I enable and provide technical assistance to customers with Synopsys Software Integrity Group products. The specific products I support include Black Duck (SCA), Coverity (SAST), White Hat (DAST), and Software Risk Manager (APSM). We do have others, but these are the most prevalent. I've also been a Penetration Tester, Product Manager, Interim CISO, Security Architect, and a business owner.
Personal Life
I am married and have two adult children from a previous marriage. My wife and I love to travel. Me probably because I grew up as an "Oil Patch" kid moving around from Country to Country. I've been to 49 of 50 states, Mexico, all over Europe, Africa (West Africa twice and Egypt), Asia (India, Cambodia, and Thailand), Canada, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Turks and Caicos, Cuba, Barbados, the Galapagos Islands, and more.
Hobbies
I've enjoyed singing since I joined the Houston Tidelanders in 2020. I became a member right before the pandemic struck. Houston Revels introduced me to mixed choruses. After Revels, I joined the Houston Show Choir where we performed in front of ~300 people and then at Disneyland's California Adventure Park. I'm not currently in a group but I have been learning to play the guitar.
A good friend of ours introduced us to sailing years ago. We helped him crew his 53' Amel across the Gulf of Mexico to the Florida Keys. That led us to buy our own small 28' sailboat and sail here on Upper Galveston Bay.
Cats and Kittens
We have been rescuing cats and kittens for about five years now. I built and also run the Rescue's website. My wife is an adoption counselor, medical mentor, and volunteers for events. We have two adult cats of our own. We have a Chocolate Point Siamese named Samantha. We also have a little Tabby named Sophie. They sometimes play mommy to our foster kittens. Our sweet little deaf Fawn Point Siamese passed away during a surgery to remove her teeth to treat her Stomatitis.
